Just when you think the world is crap…

Something happens to make you change your mind.

Yesterday was my mom’s birthday. She got to spend it in the hospital. Brutal, right? Yes, it certainly is.

However, the dietary aid came back after dinner with a surprise. Out of left field (did you really think I was going to use a different reference?), the dietary aid comes back with a slice of lemon meringue pie for my mother and a slice of chocolate (something) pie for my niece.

While my mom was indeed happy that I was there with her — and that she had two of her grand kids and a few members of her church visit — my mom was floored and very appreciative of that small gesture of kindness. (Oh, the aid also came back with a balloon which was shaped in a star and had Happy Birthday written on it.)

The random act of kindness floored me, too. Words can’t describe how surprised I was with the whole thing.

I still have a job…
For now. Following a wonderful move by a co-worker, a position opened up and I was, technically, “called back” for a job. One caveat, though, I would have to reduce my shifts per pay period.

Of course, this opens up a possibility to pick up a part-time job to make up for the lost hours.

Friday…
I am the official scorer at the Tornadoes. Kind of nervous about the whole thing. I am sure I can do it, it’s the TAS stuff that has me a bit apprehensive.

For S’s and G’s I scored the Braves-Phillies Sunday night game and it seems as though I have everything down pat. Even made a correct scoring call on the tricky Feliz bunt in the eighth inning in which Chipper threw the ball away. Gave myself a pat on the back for that one.

Fall Ball is…
Right around the corner. Excited that at least one of the three kids who showed interest from Clinton is going to stick. Was good to see him actually play — albeit only at practice — and it seems as though he’s got an awesome arm. I just wish I could’ve seen him throw his bullpen instead of throwing BP while he was off to the side.

Fun times…
Expected when I go to Wallum Lake this Saturday.

The plan is to take the three oldest nephews along with me. One of them is already confirmed, now to work on the other two. Should be an interesting time trying to get that going.

That’s about it, really.

Catch you on the flip side.
