So, it’s December.
That was quick.
Things have flown by in the past couple of months.
Looking forward, things are going to be crazy this month. The next two weekends I have tryouts. Also, this weekend, my cousin comes up from Florida for the weekend. On top of that, her brother and father will be making a trek from New York City to visit while she’s here, too.
Between that, getting all the Christmas list shopping done, getting Christmas dinner shopping done, baseball stuff, birthday parties, this is shaping up to be a pretty busy month for me.
Got news that my newspaper is staying with the New York Times and the New England Media Group. Or, as my brother said, “You’re working for a Mexican businessman (Carlos Slim) now.”
That news brings some stability, but not much. I would imagine buyouts/layoffs — if any — won’t be announced until the new year so that people can revel in the “good” news.
Not too worried if that happens — not to the point where I’ll be doing the math to see where I stand. That’s because, I know where I stand. I am Copy Editor No. 1 to get the ax. If it happens, it happens. NBD.
That’s been my acronym of late…NBD. No Big Deal. Trying not to sweat the small stuff. Sometimes it’s difficult not to, other times it’s so damned easy. It’s helped me become a more mellow person.
Cousin, baseball tryouts, God-daughters birthday party and more baseball tryouts are ahead on the calendar for me. Sometime in there an AAU coaches meeting, too.
How do I do it all? I honestly couldn’t tell you. Red Bull, for one. Lots of Red Bull.
That’s about it for now.
